The Configuration Manager must identify tools to enable Technology Asset And Configuration Management in the engagement.
The tools selected should be capable to provide check-out and check-in facilities, allow version management, establishing
baselines, branching (if needed), store technology configuration items, maintain inventory and relationships, etc. The tool
should be able to interface with different streams of Service Delivery like Change Management, Release Management, etc. The
Technology Asset And Configuration Management Tools must be setup in collaboration with the Service Delivery Environment
Supervision Manager.
In many engagements, there would be tools already in use by the Client, for Technology Asset And Configuration Management
(including Configuration Management Database). In such cases, the Configuration Manager may need to maintain these tools
and platforms. The Configuration Manager must also ensure adequate rights are provided to the delivery teams in order to
utilize the tools, while providing the service.
